Presenter View

Presenter View

This week’s tip goes out to JMC’s Instructors. We had a a great time hanging out with you last week and this week we’re focusing on a feature that would be especially useful for instructors (hat tip to Mick Crabtree for the suggestion).

When using a projector (or a second monitor), PowerPoint has a feature that lets you view your slides, notes, and presentation timer on one screen (your laptop), while displaying the full presentation itself on another screen (the projector). This guide will cover how to achieve this setup:

Before you begin: To use this feature, you must put your displays in extend mode. This was covered in a previous tip of the week which you can revisit by clicking here. Once your displays are in extend mode,  proceed to the next step.

From the PowerPoint ribbon, select the Slide Show tab, then check the box labeled “Use Presenter View”
Notice the option labeled “Show Presentation On”, which lets you pick which screen shows the slide show, and the other will show your notes.

That’s it. Now you can begin your slide show and do fancy things!
